Well here’s my first attempt of ice skating on the frozen canals of Amsterdam. Apparently it’s not as easy as it looks.
Here I am with my new Viking noren ice skates first time on natural ice. It had been quite a warm winter and then suddenly in mid-February we had a cold spell, 1 night of snow and for the rest sub zero temperatures. This is the first time the canals have frozen fully for at least 15 years (but still not cold enough for the 11-city race: Elfstedentocht. The canals were filled with skating Dutchies day for the one week it was frozen and at night the canals even turned into a disco… this was a great year to start ice skating!
